About Merissa
Stories are important to me - I’ve been writing short stories and poetry since elementary school! My love for words and the meaning behind them has influenced my love of music and drives my creative vision in photography as well.
If I have the pleasure to capture a special event for you I will capture it with the eye of a photojournalist. I tell stories with my photos through the emotions captured, the creative framing of the subject, and by putting the passion that I have for photography into each photograph I create.
I take that same approach with portraits. I work with my subject to create dynamic but genuine poses that tell their story through an image.
Being surrounded by music, artists and other creative humans is where I thrive. Photo pits and sweaty singing crowds, late-night parties in a dimly lit room, weddings enthusiastically celebrating a couple’s love, chaotically fun studio shoots where we work together to think outside the box, are my happy place.
